Extract text from Sage timesheets (WTC)
To convert WTC timesheets to another format, you need Wikitude AR SDK or other Developer software.
To convert other file formats to the "AR Database / Timesheet" file type, you need software like Wikitude AR SDK or a similar tool.
The .WTC file format serves two radically different purposes: it is either an Augmented Reality Target Collection for the Wikitude AR SDK, or an employee timesheet data file used by Sage Wage Easy Payroll.
If the file is related to AR, it is managed using Wikitude Studio. If it is a payroll file, it is exported by Wage Easy HR software for processing. Occasionally, legacy Logitech webcams also generate .WTC settings files.
The main disadvantage of .WTC AR files is that they are highly proprietary, closed binary archives containing image recognition feature points, not actual 3D models. They are effectively useless outside the deprecated Wikitude ecosystem. Conversely, Wage Easy timesheets are merely unencrypted XML files disguised with a custom extension, which confuses users and standard spreadsheet software trying to process payroll data.
Wage Easy .WTC files should ideally be converted to standard XML, CSV, or XLSX formats for easier auditing, editing, and integration with modern accounting tools. Wikitude .WTC files cannot be directly converted to standard 3D formats like OBJ or FBX because they lack mesh and texture data.
Because .WTC files lack native OS support, they are notoriously frustrating to handle. The AR variants are closed boxes, meaning only the original SDK can interpret the tracking data.
