About LML files
The .LML file extension serves multiple distinct purposes, creating significant ambiguity for users trying to open one. The most common use case is an Anatomical Landmark List generated by TomoVision Slice-O-Matic, used in medical imaging to map specific body points. Other prevalent formats include data analysis files from Vernier Logger Pro (often GZIP compressed), XML-based label templates from ZebraDesigner, and scientific plots from KDE LabPlot.
The main drawback with .LML files is their dependence on highly specific, often expensive, or legacy scientific software. For example, a Logger Pro file might be a compressed container that standard text editors cannot read, displaying only gibberish. Users frequently encounter these files when sharing research data or attempting to print legacy label designs without the original environment. Since many of these formats are effectively wrappers around data points or layout instructions, the most practical solution is conversion. For scientific data, converting to CSV or XLSX allows for analysis in standard spreadsheet software. For layout or visual data (like Zebra templates or LabPlot graphs), converting to PDF ensures the visual information is preserved and accessible without installing niche viewer tools.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LML file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Slice-O-Matic or similar software from the "Scientific Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to LML, try Slice-O-Matic or another comparable tool in the "Scientific Data Storage" category.
The LML Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LML converter.
