About LMD files

The .lmd file extension represents a diverse set of proprietary data formats, creating significant compatibility challenges. Most commonly (31%), it is a List Mode Data file generated by Beckman Coulter flow cytometers. These files contain raw, event-by-event biological data that is inaccessible to standard spreadsheet software like Excel. Without conversion, researchers cannot visualize cell populations or export statistics. The extension is also frequently used (20%) as a plugin module for AutoPlay Media Studio or as proprietary 3D model/data containers in video games like League of Legends and Pokémon Masters.

For scientific workflows, the best practice is converting .lmd to FCS (Flow Cytometry Standard) for compatibility with FlowJo or CSV for statistical analysis. For game modding and development, users often need to convert model assets to OBJ or FBX for editing in Blender, though this often requires specific hex editors or extraction scripts due to encryption.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LMD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TST, TTP and VTX files.

The LMD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LMD converter.
