About LIS files

A .LIS file is primarily an output listing or report file generated by various legacy, enterprise, and scientific applications. Systems like Alesco Human Resource Management, ANZ Transactive, SPSS, and PeopleSoft use it to export tabular data, backlog reports, or statistical analysis. It is also used as a legacy Log Information Standard by Schlumberger for well log data. The main disadvantage of the .LIS format is its lack of standardization. It often contains raw, unstructured text mixed with legacy printer control characters (like HP PCL) or proprietary spacing. You cannot easily filter, sort, or graph this data without manual cleanup. It is not designed for modern web or data analysis workflows, effectively locking your data inside an obsolete text structure. To make this data useful, you must convert it. For data analysis and spreadsheet manipulation, convert to CSV or XLSX. For archiving or sharing fixed-layout reports, convert to PDF. For basic reading, a standard TXT format is best.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LIS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted Z, DLIS, ZIP, PDF, TXT, LAS, LRC, TSX, INP, DAT, GZ, EMB and PNG files.
