About LEVEL files
A .LEVEL file contains structured data defining a stage, map, or floor layout within specific software environments. It is predominantly used by 3D video game engines like CryEngine, the Hedgehog Engine, and Croteam's Serious Engine to store terrain geometry, object placements, and event triggers. Alternatively, it is used by CYPE Ingenieros CAD software to store building project floor levels. The primary disadvantage of the .LEVEL format is its extreme fragmentation and proprietary nature. Because nearly every developer compiles these files differently - often using undocumented binary serialization to optimize loading times - they are usually impossible to open outside of their native level editor or SDK. You cannot simply open a Sonic Unleashed or Bloodstained level file in a standard 3D viewer. This locks users out of their map data, requiring massive multi-gigabyte engine installations just to view basic environment coordinates. To make this data usable elsewhere, you must convert the .LEVEL file. For 3D editing and archiving map geometry, target formats like OBJ or FBX. For modifying object coordinates or level logic, parse the file into readable XML or JSON.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LEVEL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LEVEL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LEVEL converter.
