About LDA files

The .lda file format is highly fragmented, most commonly serving as a proprietary data archive. The dominant use cases include window and door design files generated by FomIndustrie FP-PRO and Emmegisoft CNC manufacturing systems. Alternatively, it functions as a Laser Data Archive for Cymer systems, a legacy game data container for the Neverland Lufia series, or a DVOR calibration data file for Indra Navia NORMARC aviation systems.

The main disadvantage of .lda files is their rigid, proprietary lock-in. Because multiple industrial, legacy, and aviation systems claim this exact extension, standard operating systems cannot identify or open them natively. Attempting to view them usually requires expensive, niche software licenses or outdated applications. Furthermore, sharing these files with clients or external teams often leads to compatibility dead-ends.

To bypass these limitations, you must convert or extract the file. Fortunately, many window design .lda files (like the FP-PRO variant) use standard compression under the hood. For these archives, convert to ZIP or 7Z to unpack the internal 3D models and manufacturing data.
