About LBL files
The .LBL extension is a generic container format primarily used for Label Designs and templates. The most dominant usage (over 70%) originates from NiceLabel (now Loftware) and related industrial printing software like ZebraDesigner or legacy systems like dBASE. These files store layout geometry, barcode symbologies, database connection strings, and printer-specific settings required to manufacture physical labels.
Because .LBL files are strictly proprietary and often linked to specific printer drivers, they present significant accessibility challenges. You cannot view them in web browsers, Microsoft Word, or standard image viewers. Opening them usually requires an expensive license for the original design software or the exact printer environment they were created for. To share label proofs with clients or archive designs without relying on legacy software, the best approach is to convert .LBL files to PDF for universal viewing or PNG/JPG for digital catalogs. For automotive users, an .LBL file might also be a plain text redirection file for VCDS diagnostics, which should be converted to TXT or opened in a text editor.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LBL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LBL file to PDF, LBX, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF or DAT, you can use NiceLabel or similar software from the "Barcode Label Template" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to LBL, try NiceLabel or another comparable tool in the "Barcode Label Template" category.
The LBL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LBL converter.
