About LBV files

The .LBV file extension is primarily used for label design projects created by Labeljoy or Teklynx LabelView, as well as project files for BMA LogiKal and binary data files for National Instruments LabVIEW. These files store layout instructions, barcode configurations, embedded images, text blocks, and database connection settings needed to render complex labels or engineering projects.

The main disadvantage of the .LBV format is severe vendor lock-in. Because it is a proprietary, closed project container rather than a standard document format, it is practically useless to anyone who does not have a paid license for the exact software that created it. The files are not supported by web browsers, standard image viewers, or generic document editors. Sharing a raw .LBV file often leads to errors and frustration, as the recipient cannot open or print the contents.

To share these designs, users must convert .LBV to universal target formats like PDF, JPG, or PNG. However, because the format relies heavily on proprietary software engines to render the layout, standard online converters inevitably fail to process it correctly.

This is where convert.guru offers a pragmatic solution. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view its internal structure, and convert it when possible. While original software is often required to perfectly export the graphical layout, our tool can analyze the raw data, extract embedded elements (such as text or JFIF image headers), and help you recover usable assets from an otherwise locked file.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LBV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted LBL and X3G files.

The LBV Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LBV converter.
