About KINE files
A .kine file is a project archive created by KineMaster, a popular video editing app for Android and iOS. Internally, it is a ZIP container that bundles the project structure (formerly kmproject), edit decision lists, effects settings, and - in versions 5.0 and later - the actual source media files (video clips, audio, and images). Users typically encounter friction because a .kine file is not a playable video; you cannot open it in VLC Media Player or upload it directly to YouTube. It serves as a "recipe" for the video, requiring the KineMaster rendering engine to assemble the final output. Users moving files to a PC often fail to realize the file is merely a data container, leading to "codec missing" errors in standard media players.

The KINE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KINE converter.
