Convert a file to JPS
To convert other file formats to the "3D Stereoscopic Image File" file type, you need software like Adobe Photoshop or a similar tool.
About JPS files
The .JPS file extension is primarily used for Stereoscopic JPEG images. This format stores two standard JPG images side-by-side in a single file, representing the left and right eye views necessary to create a 3D stereoscopic effect. It is widely used by 3D cameras, stereoscopic rendering software, and VR applications. Other, less common uses for the .JPS extension include JProfiler profiling snapshots (which are technically GZIP compressed archives) by ej-technologies, JAVAD GNSS receiver log files for land surveying equipment, and ID card design projects in software like CardPresso.
To open stereoscopic .JPS files in 3D, users must rely on specialized 3D viewers like StereoPhoto Maker or 3D-enabled hardware. Standard image editors like Adobe Photoshop can open them, but they will simply display the two images side-by-side rather than rendering a 3D depth effect.
The main disadvantage of the .JPS format is its lack of widespread compatibility. Standard web browsers, social media platforms, and default operating system image galleries do not recognize the .JPS extension. If you attempt to upload a .JPS file, it will likely be rejected or treated as an unknown binary document. Users are often forced to manually rename the file extension to JPG just to view the raw side-by-side image, which is a confusing and annoying workaround.
To make these files universally usable, you need to convert them. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser. For web publishing or social media sharing, convert your .JPS images to standard JPG, PNG, or WEBP. Converting an image .JPS file to a standard 2D format usually involves extracting either the left or right eye view, meaning the 3D depth information will be lost. If you are dealing with a JProfiler snapshot or JAVAD GNSS log, conversion is not recommended; you must use the native software to parse the complex underlying data.

The JPS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JPS converter.
