About JPS files

The .JPS file extension primarily represents a Stereoscopic JPEG Image, a format used to create the illusion of depth by storing two side-by-side images (one for the left eye, one for the right) within a single file. While technically a standard JPEG, the .JPS extension signals to 3D software that the image requires specific processing for stereoscopic display. The main limitation of this format is accessibility; opening a .JPS file in a standard image viewer (like Windows Photos or preview tools) displays two squished or identical images side-by-side rather than a single 3D view. To share these images on the web or print them, users must convert them to standard JPG, PNG, or WebP, often extracting just one "eye" view for 2D compatibility or merging them into an anaglyph (red/cyan) image.

Less frequently, .JPS files may be JProfiler Snapshots generated by JProfiler for analyzing Java application performance, or ID card projects created by legacy software associated with CardPresso. These proprietary data formats are completely incompatible with image viewers and require their specific originating software to open or export data to CSV, HTML, or PDF reports. Whether you have a 3D image or a data log, drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the format and convert it to a usable standard.

The JPS Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JPS converter.
