About JPF files

The .JPF file is a JPEG 2000 image file created by the Joint Photographic Experts Group. It utilizes discrete wavelet transform (DWT) technology to offer both lossy and lossless image compression within a single file architecture. This allows for higher image quality at smaller file sizes compared to traditional discrete cosine transform (DCT) methods.

You can open .JPF files using professional image editors like Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, or specialized viewers like IrfanView.

Despite superior technical specifications compared to the original JPG, .JPF suffers from severe compatibility issues. It requires high computational power to decode. Most importantly, mainstream web browsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox do not natively support .JPF, making it useless for direct web publishing. Users frequently encounter "unsupported format" errors when sharing these files with clients or friends.
