Convert a file to JPR
To convert other file formats to the "Java IDE Project File" file type, you need software like Oracle JDeveloper or a similar tool.
About JPR files
A .JPR file usually functions as an Oracle JDeveloper project file. It stores project properties, compiler settings, and directory references using an XML structure. Less frequently, it operates as a project file for Borland JBuilder, a JProfiler info file, or even radar scan project data for the Hilti PS 1000 X-Scan. You cannot directly convert these files into actionable media or standalone executables. They do not contain your actual Java source code or the final visual radar scans; they only hold configuration parameters and file paths. This heavy reliance on specific, proprietary software makes them completely useless outside their parent environments. Sending a .JPR file to a colleague without the accompanying source code or scan data is pointless. Standard online converters fail to process them because they expect common document or media formats, not specialized developer settings. However, because the underlying architecture of most .JPR files is standard XML or JSON, you can extract the raw text data. Your best conversion targets are XML, JSON, or TXT. Converting to these text-based formats lets you read the internal configurations without needing a massive Integrated Development Environment (IDE) installed. Because these files are highly application-specific, opening them normally is a frustrating challenge. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible using convert.guru. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded text format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JPR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert JPR file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use Oracle JDeveloper or similar software from the "IDE Project Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to JPR, try Oracle JDeveloper or another comparable tool in the "IDE Project Configuration" category.
The JPR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JPR converter.
