An .inn file is a proprietary 3D asset generated by Lumion, a real-time architectural rendering software developed by Act-3D. When a user imports a 3D model from software like Autodesk 3ds Max, Lumion automatically converts the geometry into a set of internal library files, which includes the .inn file. This format stores specific mesh parameters or node configurations required for Lumion's real-time engine.
The main disadvantage of the .inn format is strict vendor lock-in. It is a closed, proprietary file type. You cannot open it in standard 3D modeling programs like Blender or Maya. Accessing the file natively requires an expensive commercial license. Furthermore, these files are not supported by web browsers or generic 3D viewers, making client collaboration difficult without rendering the scene first.
