The .ILV file format serves three distinct, highly specialized purposes depending on the originating software. Primarily, it functions as a UI prototyping asset library for Infragistics Indigo Studio. In this context, the file is structurally a standard ZIP archive containing SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) assets. Alternatively, in enterprise software development, .ILV stands for Interface Layout Vector, a proprietary graphical user interface file used by IBM ILOG Views to define C++ GUI layouts. Finally, in the gaming simulation sector, Digital Combat Simulator World uses .ILV to store raw cockpit illumination data. The main disadvantage of .ILV files is their severe lack of interoperability. They are entirely proprietary or hyper-specific to their parent ecosystems. Users cannot natively open them in standard web browsers, text editors, or universal image viewers.
