About ILV files
The .ILV extension is a classic example of filename collision, where a single suffix serves three distinct, incompatible purposes. Most commonly, it represents an Indigo Library Vector file used by Infragistics Indigo Studio, a tool for rapid UI prototyping. These files are essentially compressed containers storing reusable design assets. The friction here is obvious: to access a simple icon or layout stored inside, you typically need the full Indigo Studio environment installed. However, because these are often just renamed ZIP archives containing SVG images and XML metadata, users can sometimes bypass the software lock-in by manually inspecting the archive.
Alternatively, your file might be an Interface Layout Vector associated with IBM ILOG Views, a legacy C++ library for building graphical user interfaces. These files store vector graphic definitions for high-performance visualization apps. They are often binary or proprietary text formats, making them unreadable to standard viewers like browsers or image editors. Finally, in the gaming sector, .ILV files are used by DCS World (Digital Combat Simulator) to define cockpit illumination data. These are strictly internal game assets. For the Indigo Studio variant, the best conversion path is extracting the contents to standard SVG or PNG for web use. For IBM ILOG files, conversion is generally limited to exporting data within the original development environment.

The ILV Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ILV converter.
