About FXG files

The .FXG file extension typically designates a Flash XML Graphics file created by Adobe Inc.. It is an XML-based format designed to store vector graphics and rich media assets. Designers historically used it to move graphic layouts between Adobe Flash Professional, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Flash Catalyst. A secondary use for .FXG files is as FactoryTalk Graphic Display files, which store HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screen definitions for Rockwell Automation software. The main disadvantage of the Adobe .FXG format is its severe obsolescence. Adobe completely deprecated the Flash platform in 2020. Modern web browsers and standard image viewers cannot render .FXG files natively. FactoryTalk .FXG files face a different problem: they use a proprietary Microsoft Compound structure containing VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) elements, making them completely unreadable outside the expensive FactoryTalk industrial suite. Users frequently need to convert Adobe .FXG files to modern, standard vector formats like SVG or PDF, or raster formats like PNG. When converting from .FXG to SVG, basic vector paths remain intact, but specific Flash filters or timeline action data will be permanently lost. Converting FactoryTalk .FXG files to graphics is practically impossible, as they are proprietary industrial data configurations rather than standard images. Standard online converters routinely fail to process these complex legacy and industrial files. Because these formats are either obsolete or deeply proprietary, only the original authoring software can usually parse the specific tags correctly. However, you can use convert.guru as your pragmatic starting point. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. We can securely inspect the internal XML or Compound file structure. If our analysis detects supported underlying embedded SVG data or plain text strings, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible without buying the original software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FXG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FLA, TGV, ILL and AIC files.
