About HUS files
A .HUS file is a machine-executable embroidery design format specific to Husqvarna Viking sewing machines. Unlike vector graphics (like SVG), a .HUS file contains raw "expanded" stitch data - specific X/Y coordinates for every needle penetration, jump, and stop command.
Practical Constraints: Because .HUS files store static stitch points rather than geometric shapes, resizing them by more than 10-20% without specialized software (like Embird or mySewnet) often ruins the stitch density, causing needle breaks or fabric puckering. Additionally, the file relies on specific thread charts; if your viewer uses a different palette, the colors may display incorrectly ("color drift").
Conversion Solutions:
- For Other Machines: To use these designs on Brother, Janome, or Bernina machines, you must convert .HUS to PES, JEF, or EXP respectively.
- For Manufacturing: Convert to DST (Tajima) for industrial standard compatibility.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HUS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted VP3, EXP, PES, DST, ART, JEF, ZIP, PDF, JPG and VIP files.
The HUS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HUS converter.
