Convert HTRI to another file type
To convert your HTRI file to another format, you need HTRI Xchanger Suite or other Data software.
Convert a file to HTRI
To convert other file formats to the "Thermal Simulation Project" file type, you need software like HTRI Xchanger Suite or a similar tool.
About HTRI files
A .HTRI file is the proprietary project container used by HTRI Xchanger Suite, the industry standard for designing, rating, and simulating heat exchangers. These files encapsulate critical engineering data, including thermal process conditions, fluid properties, physical geometry (shell-and-tube, air-cooled, plate-fin), and vibration analysis results.
The main limitation for .HTRI files is their strict proprietary lock-in. They are binary files that cannot be opened, viewed, or parsed without an active, licensed copy of the Xchanger Suite, which often requires a hardware dongle or network authentication. You cannot simply open them in a text editor or a generic CAD viewer. Engineers often receive these files from vendors and find themselves unable to validate the design without the software.
For collaboration, the pragmatic workflow is to convert the data within the native software. For documentation, export to PDF (specification sheets). For data manipulation, export results to XLS or CSV. For mechanical integration, export the geometry to DXF or DWG for use in AutoCAD. If you lack the software, you must request these specific formats from the file originator.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HTRI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert HTRI file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use HTRI Xchanger Suite or similar software from the "Heat Exchanger Design Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to HTRI, try HTRI Xchanger Suite or another comparable tool in the "Heat Exchanger Design Data" category.
The HTRI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HTRI converter.
