About IDEA files
The .IDEA file extension represents a collision between modern 3D printing and legacy digital art, serving two distinct, incompatible purposes. Most commonly, it is a proprietary project file created by ideaMaker, the slicing software for Raise3D printers. This file encapsulates your 3D models (typically .STL or .OBJ) alongside specific slicing parameters, supports, and printer settings. The frustration lies in its exclusivity; you cannot open a Raise3D .IDEA file in Cura, PrusaSlicer, or standard CAD tools like SolidWorks. To move your data, you typically need to open the file in ideaMaker and export the geometry as STL for editing or GCODE for printing on other machines.
Alternatively, you may possess a legacy vector drawing from Adobe Ideas, a now-discontinued iOS application. These files are essentially orphaned vector archives. While they contain high-quality line work, modern software often fails to recognize them. Users looking to archive or edit these drawings need to convert them to PDF or AI formats compatible with Adobe Illustrator to prevent data loss.
Convert.Guru analyzes your IDEA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert IDEA file to VIDEO, VI, BASE64, HEX, BIN, ENC, CRYPT, AES, DES, RSA, PGP or GPG, you can use ideaMaker or similar software from the "3D Slicing Project" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert CER, BIN, PEM, DER, KEY, P7S, PFX, ENC, P12, BASE64, P7B or HEX files to IDEA, try ideaMaker or another comparable tool in the "3D Slicing Project" category.
The IDEA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IDEA converter.
