About GTT files

The .GTT extension typically designates a Garmin Text Translation file, a structured XML document used to localize the user interface on Garmin GPS devices. These files map internal system commands to human-readable strings. The primary friction for users is that while the file is technically text-based, the raw XML syntax is cluttered and fragile; a single misplaced tag can corrupt the language file on the device. Users frequently need to convert .GTT to cleaner XML or TXT formats to safely modify translations or fix display errors using standard editors like Notepad++.

Alternatively, a .GTT file may be a weaving draft created by Guntram's Tabletweaving Thingy, a niche tool for textile design. The challenge here is accessibility; the format is tied to specific, older software. To make these patterns useful for actual weaving or sharing with others who lack the software, users should convert them to PDF for printing or PNG for digital viewing. In rare legacy gaming contexts (e.g., Knight Online), .GTT files serve as ground textures, though these are proprietary and resistant to standard conversion.

Convert.Guru analyzes your GTT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SVY, QDC, QCC, TSP and MG files.
