Extract text from Character presets (FHP)
To convert FHP Presets to another format, you need FeralHeart or other Game software.
To convert other file formats to the "Character Data Archive" file type, you need software like FeralHeart or a similar tool.
A .fhp file is primarily known as a FeralHeart Preset file, a compressed archive used by the MMORPG FeralHeart to store and share custom character textures. When a player exports their character design in-game, the software compiles the raw source images (usually JPG or PNG) into a single, proprietary .FHP package. This allows other players on the server to see the custom "skin" or visuals of that specific character. Without this file in the local presets directory, other users will only see a default white or blank character model.
In addition to FeralHeart, the .fhp extension is utilized by other gaming and 3D software, including Phantasy Star Online 2 for character creation data and potentially FaceGen projects. The key problem for users is that .fhp files are not standard image files; they are proprietary containers. You cannot simply double-click to open them in Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Paint. Users often need to "convert" these files by extracting the internal textures to standard formats for editing, or they face issues where files exceed the strictly enforced file size limits (often under a few megabytes) required for online synchronization. For editing, the goal is to revert the data to PNG or JPG source maps. For archiving or transfer, wrapping them in a standard ZIP is recommended to prevent corruption.
