Convert FEP to another file type
To convert FEP Models and reports to another format, you need LIRA-SAPR or other Data software.
Convert a file to FEP
To convert other file formats to the "Finite Element Program Data" file type, you need software like LIRA-SAPR or a similar tool.
About FEP files
A .FEP file generally functions as a Structural Analysis Model file or a Custom Report Parameter file. Most commonly, civil and structural engineers use this format to store finite element meshes, load data, and structural calculations. Accountants also encounter .FEP files as custom report configurations generated by enterprise accounting software. A smaller percentage of these files store aeronautical flight plan data for aviation simulators.
You can open structural .FEP files using LIRA-SAPR or SCAD Office. For accounting files, you need Sage 100 or Sage 50. Flight data files require specialized CAE AFM-GOLD software.
Users frequently need to convert these files because the .FEP format is proprietary, closed, and highly specialized. Sharing these files with clients or colleagues is a major challenge. The recipient must own an expensive, active software license to open the file. Furthermore, the format is completely unreadable by standard web browsers, mobile devices, or generic document viewers.
When handling structural data, the best target formats are standard CAD or BIM files. Export your model to IFC or DXF. You will preserve the core 3D geometry and mesh layout, but proprietary calculation parameters or specific load cases might be lost in translation. For Sage reports, export the data directly to PDF, CSV, or XLSX to ensure anyone can view the financial information without database software.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert using generic tools. The data is locked inside closed structures, such as customized JetDB databases for Sage reports or proprietary binary arrays for LIRA-SAPR. Standard online converters fail to process it because often only the original software can properly parse, read, or export the data. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible on convert.guru. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FEP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert FEP file to OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D, STL, PLY or WRL, you can use LIRA-SAPR or similar software from the "Structural Analysis Model" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to FEP, try LIRA-SAPR or another comparable tool in the "Structural Analysis Model" category.
The FEP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FEP converter.
