About FBL files

The .FBL file format is primarily used as a compiled map data file for iGO Navigation and HERE Maps. These files contain road networks, routing logic, and points of interest for standalone GPS devices and automotive infotainment systems. A secondary use case is the FIX Binary Log file, generated by financial trading platforms like MetaTrader or OneZero Hub to record high-frequency trading data, as well as execution logs for the BehaviorTree.CPP library.

This format presents severe disadvantages for everyday users. .FBL map files are proprietary, closed-source, and heavily compressed. Most are locked with DRM tied to a specific SD card or hardware ID, meaning you cannot legally or functionally share them between devices. They require a $50+ map update subscription and are entirely unsupported by web browsers or generic GIS applications like QGIS. Trading logs suffer from being compiled as binary blobs, rendering them unreadable in standard text editors without specialized parsing scripts.

Users typically want to convert map files to GPX or KML for trip planning, or convert trading logs to CSV and JSON for data analysis. However, converting these files is notoriously difficult. Standard online converters fail because they cannot reconstruct routing logic from encrypted spatial data or decode FIX protocol binaries without proper schemas.

Only the original software can properly read or export the full dataset. If our analysis detects an unencrypted text layer or a supported embedded format, viewing or data extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FBL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted IMG, ZIP, BIN, PBF, BLT and TDMS files.

The FBL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FBL converter.
