Convert EZD to another file type
To convert EZD designs to another format, you need EZCAD or other Cad software.
Convert a file to EZD
To convert other file formats to the "Laser Marking File" file type, you need software like EZCAD or a similar tool.
About EZD files
The .EZD file extension is primarily an EZCAD2 Laser Engraving Design file, developed by Beijing JCZ Technology. These files store vector graphics, text, hatch parameters, and specific machine settings used to control industrial laser marking and engraving machines. A secondary, much rarer use for the .EZD format is for Atomic Force Microscopy data files generated by Nanosurf easyScan.
Opening .EZD files outside of their native environment is notoriously difficult. The format is heavily proprietary, meaning standard vector editors like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW cannot open it natively. Furthermore, installing EZCAD software often requires a physical USB dongle or a direct connection to a compatible laser control board just to launch the application. This creates a massive bottleneck when you need to edit vector paths off-site, view the design on a Mac (since EZCAD is Windows-only), or share a laser design with a client for approval.
To bypass these frustrating limits, converting your .EZD file is the most pragmatic solution. For editing the vector paths in standard CAD or illustration software, convert to DXF or SVG. If you only need to send the design to a client for visual approval, convert to PDF or PNG.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EZD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EZD file to DXF, PDF, CDR, PLT, SVG, STEP, DWG, AI, DGN, RVT, RFA or SKP, you can use EZCAD or similar software from the "Laser Engraving Design File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to EZD, try EZCAD or another comparable tool in the "Laser Engraving Design File" category.
The EZD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EZD converter.
