About EXB files

The .EXB file extension is primarily associated with CAXA CAD, a leading engineering design software widely used in manufacturing for 2D and 3D drafting. These files, technically known as Electronic Boards, contain complex vector geometry, technical annotations, and layout specifications similar to the DWG format. A major disadvantage of .EXB files is their proprietary nature; they are notoriously difficult to open outside of the CAXA ecosystem and are incompatible with industry standards like AutoCAD or DraftSight. This creates friction for international teams who receive these files but lack the specific software to view them.

For engineering collaboration, the recommended solution is to convert .EXB to DWG or DXF, allowing the data to be edited in almost any CAD application. For non-technical stakeholders, archiving, or printing, converting the drawing to PDF preserves the visual fidelity without requiring a CAD license.

Less frequently, .EXB files are legacy local database files used by older versions of Evernote for Windows. These are essentially SQLite databases containing user notes and metadata. Since modern Evernote versions have shifted architecture, these files are often orphaned 'black boxes' of data. To retrieve information from these archives, converting the content to PDF, HTML, or standard text formats is often necessary for long-term preservation.

Convert.Guru analyzes your EXB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DWG, PDF, BAK, EXP, NCM, DXF, ZIP, 123C, ACAD, RAR, XLSX, MPKG and BRU files.

The EXB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EXB converter.
