To convert other file formats to the "3D Drawing File" file type, you need software like Autodesk 123D or a similar tool.
The .123C file is a 3D drawing or modeling project file originally associated with the Autodesk 123D suite. It stores vector geometry, mesh data, and object properties for 3D printing and modeling workflows. Historically, these files were opened and edited using Autodesk's consumer-level CAD applications like 123D Catch or 123D Design.
Users frequently need to convert .123C files because the Autodesk 123D suite was officially discontinued in 2017. As a closed, proprietary format, the .123C extension is completely unsupported by modern web browsers and cannot be directly imported into current professional software like Fusion 360 without the legacy application. This creates a severe vendor lock-in problem, leaving users unable to access their own 3D designs.
The best target formats for conversion are STL or OBJ for direct 3D printing, or STEP for continued CAD editing. Converting out of the .123C environment will preserve the raw polygonal mesh, but you will likely lose parametric design history and specific material properties.
Because this is an undocumented, obsolete binary format, it is incredibly difficult for standard online converters to process. Often, only the original, legacy Autodesk software possesses the exact algorithms required to properly read or export the geometric data.
