About EX5 files
The .EX5 file extension represents a compiled executable program created specifically for the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) trading platform. These files contain the machine-readable byte-code for Expert Advisors (trading robots), custom technical indicators, or scripts, originally written in the high-level MetaQuotes Language 5 (MQL5).
Because .EX5 files are the final compiled output, they present a significant challenge for traders who need to modify a strategy or audit code: they are binary "black boxes." You cannot open an .EX5 file in a text editor to view the logic, nor can you directly import it into the older MetaTrader 4 platform due to architectural incompatibility (MQL5 vs. MQL4). This proprietary lock-in often forces users to search for ways to "decompile" the file back to its source or convert it for legacy support. While direct decompilation is often restricted to protect intellectual property, the ideal workflow involves locating the original MQ5 source file for editing. For cross-platform compatibility, the logic must be rewritten and compiled as EX4.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EX5 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EX5 file to MQ5, EX4, EXE, MSI, APP, DMG, DEB, RPM, PKG, RUN, SH or BAT, you can use MetaTrader 5 or similar software from the "Automated Trading Executable" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert JAR, APP, SCR, IPA, COM, AAB, PS1, DMG, VBS, EXE, XAPK or MSI files to EX5, try MetaTrader 5 or another comparable tool in the "Automated Trading Executable" category.
The EX5 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EX5 converter.
