About EPSI files

An .EPSI file is an Encapsulated PostScript Interchange vector graphic. It is a specific variant of the standard EPS format that contains a platform-independent, 7-bit ASCII preview image. Originally developed by Adobe Systems for UNIX workstations, it allowed users to preview PostScript graphics visually without relying on Windows or Macintosh-specific headers. You can open and edit these files using professional vector graphic editors like Adobe Illustrator or render them using open-source tools like Ghostscript. Learn more about the underlying architecture on the Encapsulated PostScript Wikipedia page.

Today, the .EPSI format is largely obsolete and brings significant disadvantages. Modern operating systems do not require special interchange headers to preview vector graphics. Web browsers completely reject .EPSI files natively, making them useless for web design. Furthermore, the format lacks support for modern graphic features like transparency. Because older PostScript parsers had historical security vulnerabilities, modern software suites like Microsoft Office block .EPSI insertions entirely.

To overcome these strict limitations, you should convert your legacy .EPSI files into modern formats. Just drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software. For web use and responsive interfaces, convert .EPSI to SVG. If you are sending the graphic to a commercial printer or archiving it, convert it to .PDF/A. For simple cross-platform viewing or presentations, rasterize it into a high-resolution PNG, though be aware that converting to any raster format will permanently discard the infinitely scalable vector data.
