About DRC files

A .drc file typically contains 3D geometry compressed using Google Draco, a library designed to shrink complex meshes for faster web transmission. While efficient, raw .drc files are a headache for content creators: they are essentially "delivery-only" containers that strip away scene hierarchies and materials, leaving you with a highly compressed binary blob that most standard 3D editors like Blender or Autodesk Maya cannot open natively without specific plugins. To edit or view this data, you must convert the .drc file into a standard interchange format like OBJ, GLTF, or PLY.

Alternatively, if you are working with electronics hardware, your .drc file is likely a legacy waveform recording from a Hantek or Pico Technology oscilloscope, or a Design Rule Check report from PCB software like Altium Designer. The oscilloscope files are notoriously proprietary, locking your measurement data inside the manufacturer's outdated software interface. Converting these to CSV or XLSX is essential for analyzing signal data in Microsoft Excel. PCB reports, often plain text or proprietary logs, are best converted to PDF for archiving and sharing with fabrication houses.
