About PRA files

The .PRA file format is primarily used as a PagePlus Document, serving as a container for page layouts, typography, vector graphics, and embedded images. Another notable use case is for PosterJet documents associated with Canon PosterArtist software. Microsoft also briefly used the extension for Windows Media 9 Plug-in Profile Files. Desktop publishing software like Serif PagePlus or Canon PosterArtist is traditionally required to open and manipulate these files. Users frequently need to convert .PRA files because they are locked into proprietary, discontinued software ecosystems. PagePlus was retired in 2017, which means modern hardware and standard office suites simply cannot read these files. This creates massive compatibility hurdles when trying to share a layout with a client or print shop.
