About PRA files
A .PRA file is primarily a proprietary document format associated with Serif PagePlus, a legacy desktop publishing application. These files contain complex page layouts, vector graphics, and typography settings used for creating brochures, posters, and newsletters. Since Serif discontinued PagePlus in 2017 to focus on Affinity Publisher, users often find themselves locked out of their old projects. The format is binary and incompatible with Microsoft Word or Adobe InDesign, making conversion essential for accessing archived content.
A secondary but common use for this extension is as a Windows Media 9 Plug-in Profile. In this context, the file stores export settings (such as bitrate and codec configurations) for Windows Media Player plugins, often used within older video editing suites like Adobe Premiere. These are small data files rather than documents.
For PagePlus documents, the most practical conversion target is PDF (Portable Document Format). Converting to PDF preserves fonts and layout fidelity for printing and archiving. For web use, converting pages to JPG or PNG allows for easy previewing without specialized software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PRA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The PRA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PRA converter.
