Extract text from DrawPlus projects (DPP)

To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Vector Drawing" file type, you need software like Serif DrawPlus or a similar tool.
The .DPP file extension is most commonly associated with Serif DrawPlus, an older vector graphics editor developed by Serif. These files store complete vector drawing projects, including paths, text objects, layers, color swatches, and embedded raster images. Depending on the version of DrawPlus used, the file structure relies on either a compressed ZIP container or a legacy Microsoft Compound document architecture. A smaller percentage of .DPP files belong to ifolor Designer as photo book projects or Sage 50 and Divalto ERP as UTF-16 (LE) report definition files.
Because Serif discontinued DrawPlus in favor of Affinity Designer, .DPP files are effectively orphaned. This proprietary format has a severe disadvantage: it requires the specific, outdated software to open and is not natively supported by modern web browsers, mobile devices, or industry-standard vector applications like Adobe Illustrator. Users face significant limits when trying to access or share their old vector artwork, as it is locked behind a discontinued tool.
The best target formats for conversion are standard vector graphics like SVG or PDF to maintain infinite scalability and layer editability. If preserving vector paths is not critical, flat raster formats like PNG or JPG are acceptable for simple viewing.
Converting .DPP files is notably difficult. Because it is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters often fail to process it correctly since they lack the specific rendering engine of DrawPlus. Often, only the original Serif DrawPlus software can properly read or export the complete vector data.
