About DPD files
The .dpd file extension is a classic example of a filename collision, most frequently serving as a Landscape Design Drawing created by DynaSCAPE Design. These files contain 2D CAD vectors, plant lists, and layout data specifically for professional landscapers. The primary frustration for users is the proprietary lock-in; without a licensed copy of DynaSCAPE, these drawings are inaccessible to clients or contractors. Converting these to PDF is the standard workflow for client approval, while JPG or PNG conversions are ideal for quick web previews or portfolio use.
However, in industrial automation contexts, a .dpd file is likely a Vacon Drive Parameter file used by Danfoss AC drives (specifically Vacon NXL or via Vacon Live software). These files store configuration settings for machinery. While some are binary, modern versions often wrap XML data inside a ZIP container. Engineers often need to convert these to TXT or CSV to document settings without needing the drive manager software. Other niche uses include Unity package dependencies or legacy Ovation Pro desktop publishing documents.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DPD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The DPD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DPD converter.
