About DGP files

The .DGP file extension primarily represents a Data Governance Policy file, utilized by platforms like Microsoft Purview and Skyflow to store compliance rules, access control definitions, and data protection schemas. Alternatively, the extension is used for Protective relay configuration data files managed by the GE DGP5 Relay Configuration Software, for Daylight Glare Probability results generated by the Radiance simulation engine or DIALux evo, and occasionally for legacy executable digital photo albums distributed by The Digital Greeting People. These files present severe usability challenges for the average user. Most .DGP formats are highly proprietary. A GE relay configuration file requires specialized industrial hardware software to interpret the settings, creating strict vendor lock-in. Worse, the legacy digital photo album variant is actually a compiled EXE file. This poses a massive security risk, as modern operating systems and email clients will flag or block executable attachments. Furthermore, executable albums cannot be opened on macOS or mobile devices natively. Because these files lack a universal standard, ordinary online converters fail to process them. You cannot directly convert a GE relay file into a readable PDF without the original software. However, since the Data Governance Policy variant is typically an underlying ZIP archive containing text-based rules, you might be able to extract XML or JSON files from it. This is where standard tools fall short. Just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our deep file analysis can detect whether your .DGP file is a hidden ZIP archive, an EXE, or a proprietary binary. If an embedded standard format is found, extraction or viewing may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DGP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
