About DFA files

A .DFA file is a classic example of a "file extension collision," where one suffix represents multiple incompatible proprietary formats. Most commonly, it acts as a structural analysis data container for Cubus STATIK, a suite used by civil engineers to model building statics. These files are typically binary and locked to the software, making them impossible to view without a license.

Another frequent use case is in professional audio, where .DFA serves as a generic "Device File Archive" or preset for Powersoft amplifiers via the ArmoníaPlus software. These files store DSP settings, equalizer curves, and limiter configurations.
