About D2S files

The .D2S file format primarily stores character save data for Diablo II or texture data for Silkroad Online. For Diablo II, developed by Blizzard Entertainment, it contains character stats, inventory, skills, and quest progress. For Silkroad Online, it stores game texture images heavily compressed like a DDS file. Both versions of the .D2S file are closed, proprietary formats. You cannot open them natively in Windows or macOS. The save files use specific hexadecimal structures that break if edited incorrectly. The texture files require specialized game engines to render. Standard online converters fail to process them because they lack the specific decryption or parsing algorithms for these old game engines. Players often want to convert .D2S save files to JSON or TXT to edit character stats, or convert .D2S textures to PNG or JPG to use in other projects.
