About CD2 files
The .CD2 extension represents three distinct file formats, creating frequent confusion for users. Most commonly, it serves as a CD/DVD Label Design created by Stomp Click'n Design (legacy software often linked to Avery). These files contain layout data, images, and text for printing directly to disc labels. The core issue is that Click'n Design is obsolete; opening these proprietary files on modern operating systems like Windows 11 is often impossible, effectively locking you out of your old design assets.
For industrial users, a .CD2 file is a configuration database for Crimson 2.0 software by Red Lion Controls, used to program HMI (Human Machine Interface) panels. These are proprietary binary or structured files that cannot be edited without the specific version of Crimson software, which may not be compatible with newer hardware.
In the financial sector, .CD2 refers to a Belgian Domiciliation file, a legacy data standard for collecting payments. These are strictly structured text files designed for banking back-ends, not human reading.
Conversion Recommendations:
For HMI Configs: If upgrading hardware, use Crimson to import the .CD2 and export as .CD3; otherwise, convert tag data to CSV for documentation.
For Banking: Convert the raw data to Excel (XLSX) or CSV to parse and audit the transaction details.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CD2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted C2D, MMO, LPF, ISF and CD1 files.

The CD2 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CD2 converter.
