About BNDL files
A .bndl file is a proprietary game data archive primarily used by Criterion Games for titles running on the GeneSys engine, such as Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) and Burnout Paradise. These files function as massive containers that bundle thousands of game assets - including DDS textures, WAV audio streams, 3D vehicle models, and compiled gameplay logic - into a single compressed package to optimize loading times.
Because they are encrypted and compressed with custom algorithms, .bndl files cannot be opened by standard archivers like WinRAR or 7-Zip. Users typically encounter these files when attempting to mod the game, replace car models, or extract soundtracks. To access the contents, you must 'convert' the bundle by unpacking it using specialized community-created tools like QuickBMS scripts or Noesis plugins. Once unpacked, the internal assets can be edited with standard software like Adobe Photoshop (for textures) or Blender (for models) and then repacked for use in the game.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BNDL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted BUNDLE, SPS, MP3, GLB, IBD, BIN, VIV, SGR and PACKAGE files.
The BNDL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BNDL converter.
