About PACKAGE files
A .package file is primarily a game data archive used by Electronic Arts titles, most notably The Sims 4, to store game assets, mods, and custom content (CC). While efficient for the game engine, this proprietary binary format presents significant hurdles for users: it is not human-readable, cannot be opened by standard tools like WinRAR, and accumulating thousands of individual files can severely impact game loading times. Users often need to access the internal data - such as textures, 3D meshes, or audio - to edit mods or fix broken content.
To overcome these limitations, the specific data inside a .package file must be extracted or converted. For editing textures, converting internal resources to PNG or DDS is essential. For 3D modeling, extracting meshes to OBJ or BLEND allows for modification in software like Blender. Conversely, for performance optimization, users often need to merge multiple .package files into a single combined archive to reduce disk I/O overhead. Note: Less common variations of this extension include Godot Engine resource archives and CODESYS software components.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PACKAGE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PACKAGE file to OBJ, SIMS3PACK, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB or ACE, you can use The Sims 4 or similar software from the "Game Asset Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to PACKAGE, try The Sims 4 or another comparable tool in the "Game Asset Archive" category.
The PACKAGE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PACKAGE converter.
