About BMA files

The .BMA file extension is highly fragmented and used by several completely unrelated software programs. Most commonly, it functions as a Bitmap Array file storing graphics for the open-source transport simulation game OpenTTD, or as an icon archive within Nemetschek Allplan CAD software. It is also heavily used in the gaming industry as a 3D model or character animation file for titles like Heroes of Annihilated Empires and King's Bounty: The Legend (using the 1C Company's TheEngine). Finally, it can appear as a business accounting report in Winbiz or Sage 50, or even as a karaoke audio file for the BMA Karaoke Player.

Because .BMA serves so many different purposes, its primary disadvantage is total ambiguity. It is a proprietary, closed format in almost all of its use cases. You cannot open these files in standard media viewers, and web browsers do not support them. If a .BMA file contains 3D animation data, you cannot simply convert it to standard formats like OBJ or FBX without specific game engine modding tools. If it is an accounting report, it requires an active license to the original financial software to read.

When conversion is possible, target formats depend entirely on the source application. Graphical .BMA files might be extracted to PNG or JPG. Financial reports might be exported to PDF or CSV.

Converting .BMA files online is exceptionally difficult because standard converters cannot guess which of the many proprietary structures the file uses. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Our tools inspect the file's raw data to show internal text or headers. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your BMA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TST, FMS and GPX files.
