Convert a file to APP
To convert other file formats to the "Application Bundle" file type, you need software like Apple macOS or a similar tool.
About APP files
The .APP file extension most commonly represents a macOS Application Bundle, but it is also used for Microsoft SharePoint Add-ins, Huawei firmware updates, and legacy Symbian OS packages. On macOS, a .APP is not actually a single file; it is a specialized directory disguised by the OS to look like an executable application. You can launch it natively using Apple macOS. This hidden folder structure is the primary disadvantage of the format. Because it is a directory, transferring a .APP file to a non-Mac file system like Windows or Linux, or attaching it to an email without archiving it first, breaks the bundle structure, exposes the internal files, and risks severe data corruption. SharePoint and firmware .APP files are also difficult to manage outside their native environments because they are proprietary containers requiring specific servers or hardware. To safely transfer or archive a macOS app for web or storage use, you must convert and compress it to a ZIP or DMG file. To extract assets from a SharePoint, Symbian, or Huawei .APP package, convert it to a standard ZIP archive. Just drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it safely without installing any extra software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your APP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert APP file to APK, WEBSITE, PDF, IPA, LINK, PKG, DMG, EXE, MSI, DEB, RPM or RUN, you can use Apple macOS or similar software from the "Executable Application Bundle" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert JAR, SCR, IPA, COM, AAB, PS1, DMG, VBS, EXE, XAPK, MSI or CMD files to APP, try Apple macOS or another comparable tool in the "Executable Application Bundle" category.
The APP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our APP converter.
