Extract text from firmware and project files (APJ)

To convert other file formats to the "Firmware Update File" file type, you need software like Mission Planner or a similar tool.
The .apj file extension is primarily used for ArduPilot firmware update files within the ArduPilot open-source drone ecosystem. However, the extension is highly fragmented. It also functions as a proprietary project file format for Anatomage Invivo dental imaging, an XML configuration for B&R Automation Studio, and even an asset file for Lego Digital Designer.
Because .apj is an umbrella extension used by entirely different, specialized applications, it presents severe compatibility challenges. It is highly proprietary in its medical and robotics forms. If you have an Anatomage dental scan, you cannot open it without expensive, niche medical software. The format lacks standard support in web browsers or regular office tools. If you receive an .apj file, you cannot easily tell if it is a plain text JSON drone update or a massive 3D medical X-ray.
Ideally, firmware files should be kept in their original format or renamed to JSON for safe text debugging. Medical or architectural .apj project files must be exported directly from their native software to standard targets like PDF, DICOM, or JPG to be useful to third parties. Data loss is guaranteed if you attempt to force-convert the proprietary medical variants without the original application.
This file format is difficult to open or convert because there is no single structural standard. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the complex data.
