About DICOM files
A .DICOM file (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is the international standard used by hospitals to store and transmit medical scans such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasounds. By default, you cannot open these files with native operating system tools. You must use specialized clinical software like RadiAnt DICOM Viewer, Horos, or OsiriX.
