Convert PRJPCB to another file type
To convert PRJPCB projects to another format, you need Altium Designer or other Cad software.
Convert a file to PRJPCB
To convert other file formats to the "EDA Project File" file type, you need software like Altium Designer or a similar tool.
About PRJPCB files
A .prjpcb file is a plain-text or UTF-8 encoded project file used by Altium Designer for Electronic Design Automation (EDA). It acts as a project binder. It does not contain actual electronic designs. Instead, it stores project-level settings, compilation rules, output job definitions, and relative paths to individual design files like schematics (schdoc) and printed circuit board layouts (pcbdoc).
The biggest disadvantage of the .prjpcb format is its dependence on a highly expensive, proprietary software ecosystem. Opening and compiling these files natively requires an active Altium Designer license. Furthermore, a .prjpcb file alone is completely useless if the referenced schematic and layout files are missing or paths are broken. It is not supported by standard web browsers or document viewers, making quick engineering reviews difficult.
To share designs for review, you must convert the project documentation to PDF. For actual PCB manufacturing, the project must be exported to standard Gerber files (RS-274X or X2) and NC Drill formats. If you are migrating away from expensive software, convert the project to open-source KiCad formats.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PRJPCB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PRJPCB file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use Altium Designer or similar software from the "PCB Project Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to PRJPCB, try Altium Designer or another comparable tool in the "PCB Project Configuration" category.
The PRJPCB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PRJPCB converter.
