Convert a file to ADP

To convert other file formats to the "Access Data Project" file type, you need software like Microsoft Access or a similar tool.

About ADP files

The .ADP file extension primarily represents an Access Data Project, a legacy database format created by Microsoft Access. Unlike standard Access databases, .ADP files do not store data locally; they act as a front-end interface connecting directly to a Microsoft SQL Server database. Alternatively, .ADP files are used as proprietary audio stream files in classic video games for Sony PlayStation, Nintendo GameCube, and Wii. They may also appear as instrument diagnostic packages from manufacturers like Anton Paar or Sysmex, which are structurally standard compressed archives.

The primary disadvantage of an .ADP database is severe obsolescence. Microsoft dropped all support for .ADP files starting with Access 2013, making them impossible to open in modern Office software without complex workarounds or virtual machines running legacy environments. Similarly, console audio .ADP files use proprietary encoding that standard media players like VLC cannot read natively.

To restore access to your assets, you must convert these files. For database migration, the underlying SQL data should be mapped to modern ACCDB files or exported as CSV for broad compatibility. For game audio, convert to WAV for lossless archiving or MP3 for standard web playback. Just drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing obsolete software.

The ADP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ADP converter.
