The .ZP2 file extension serves three entirely distinct purposes. It is commonly used as an Automation Panel system image by B&R Industrial Automation, a segmented compressed archive associated with WinZip, or a materials testing program file for ZwickRoell testXpert II software. Depending on the origin, you will need the matching software suite to natively open or execute the file.
These formats create severe bottlenecks for everyday sharing. The industrial system images and testing programs are strictly proprietary binaries. They require expensive, specialized software installations just to view the data. On the other hand, WinZip uses .ZP2 for split or renamed archives, which confuse default operating system extractors like Windows Explorer or macOS Archive Utility, resulting in 'unsupported format' errors.
To make the data usable, converting or extracting the compressed variants into standard ZIP, 7Z, or TAR files is highly recommended. However, for the proprietary B&R and ZwickRoell files, direct conversion to a PDF or CSV is extremely difficult because the files hold raw execution instructions and system states, not standard document layouts.
