About YDT files
A .YDT file is a proprietary game data file created by Konami for the classic Windows PC video game series, Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos (including Yugi the Destiny, Kaiba the Revenge, and Joey the Passion). These files, almost always named trunk.ydt, act as a local database storing the player's unlocked card collection, custom decks, and overall game progression. This file format is heavily restricted and is strictly meant to be read by the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos executable file on Windows. Users often want to convert or open .YDT files to cheat, modify their saved card collections, or migrate their progress to another PC. However, the format is a closed, proprietary binary file. It is completely unsupported by modern database tools, lacks official export functions from Konami, and cannot be read by text editors. Opening it in standard software yields garbled, unreadable text. If you wish to make the data readable, you might want to convert it to standard data formats like JSON, XML, or CSV. Unfortunately, doing this directly is impossible without utilizing niche, community-developed save editor applications specifically programmed to decode the game's proprietary binary structure. Because this is a highly obscure gaming format, standard online file converters will fail to process it. Only the original game engine can properly render the internal game data. While full conversion isn't natively possible, our tool helps verify what is actually inside the file.
Convert.Guru analyzes your YDT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The YDT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our YDT converter.
