About XSF files
The .XSF file extension serves multiple completely different purposes. Most commonly, it is a compressed system inventory file used by Micro Focus Universal Discovery. It is also heavily used as a 3D character skeleton file for the IMVU metaverse (often based on the Cal3D XML framework), an audio player skin for Virtual DJ or Xion Audio Player, and a deprecated InfoPath Form Definition file by Microsoft. The primary disadvantage of .XSF files is this severe fragmentation. You cannot easily guess what the file contains just by looking at the extension. If it is an inventory file, it is often a GZIP archive containing proprietary XML data that requires expensive enterprise software to read. If it is a 3D skeleton, it is restricted to specific legacy game engines and is not supported by standard 3D web viewers. Xion skin files are merely renamed ZIP archives, but standard archive tools will ignore them unless manually renamed. Because of these compatibility limits, converting .XSF files is necessary to extract their underlying data. For system inventory files, convert to XML or CSV for data analysis. For IMVU 3D skeletons, convert to FBX or GLTF to import them into modern tools like Blender or Unity. For audio skins, convert to ZIP to extract the interface graphics.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XSF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted CHKN, XCF, XMF, KSS, FMF and XTX files.

The XSF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XSF converter.
