About XDC files
The .XDC file extension primarily serves two distinct purposes: it is either a plain-text Xilinx Design Constraints file used in FPGA development, or a proprietary user experience design project created in Adobe XD. Less commonly, it functions as an XML printer description file for Adobe LiveCycle Forms. For engineers, XDC files dictate physical pin locations, clock definitions, and timing constraints within the Xilinx Vivado Design Suite. For designers, an XDC file holds complex vector graphics, UI/UX artboards, and interactive prototypes. The primary disadvantage of the Adobe XD format is its closed, proprietary nature. Because Adobe has effectively discontinued standalone XD sales, opening these files now requires an expensive, legacy Creative Cloud subscription. Without the original software, your design assets are completely trapped inside an unreadable container. Converting Adobe XD files to standard PDF or SVG formats is essential to preserve layouts for clients or developers. Meanwhile, FPGA engineers often need to convert XDC constraints to CSV or TXT to document hardware mappings in external spreadsheets. Unfortunately, because Adobe XD files utilize a heavily fragmented, nested internal ZIP structure linking encrypted JSON data, standard online converters universally fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly render the full artboard layout. If our analysis detects the underlying ZIP archive of an Adobe XD file, viewing or extracting the embedded raw image assets may still be possible, bypassing the need for a costly subscription.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XDC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert XDC file to MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, 3GP, OGV, ASF or RM, you can use Xilinx Vivado or similar software from the "FPGA Constraints & UI Design" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MTS, MOV, RMVB, DIVX, RM, H264, TS, WMV, VOB, MP4, XVID or AVI files to XDC, try Xilinx Vivado or another comparable tool in the "FPGA Constraints & UI Design" category.
The XDC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XDC converter.
