About XAP files

A .XAP file is primarily a Silverlight Application Package, a legacy archive format used to distribute Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) and Windows Phone 7/8 apps. Because both platforms are now End-of-Life (EOL), these files are effectively "dead" data containers that modern browsers and smartphones cannot run. Internally, a .XAP file is simply a standard ZIP archive containing compiled code (App.dll), interface definitions (AppManifest.xaml), and media assets. Users typically need to "convert" these files not to run them, but to salvage embedded content - such as recovering photos from an old Windows Phone backup or analyzing legacy source code. While you cannot directly convert a compiled .XAP into a modern HTML5 app without rewriting the code, you can easily convert the container itself into a readable format to extract its resources.

Convert.Guru analyzes your XAP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted APPX, XAPK, APPXBUNDLE, ZIP, MSIXBUNDLE, PDF, APK, TXT, PNG, EXE, CDW, DACPAC and HTA files.
