The .WVD file extension is most commonly associated with WellView Well Data files used by Peloton WellView. These files store critical data related to wellbore lifecycles, drilling operations, and completion reporting in the oil and gas industry. Internally, these .WVD files are often formatted as compressed ZIP archives holding specialized database schemas and XML data. A secondary use for .WVD files is as Widevine DRM Provisioning files managed by Google Widevine CDM, which deliver secure cryptographic keys and decryption parameters for streaming media. Additionally, a smaller subset of .WVD files are Weaving Design files created by Cochenille WeaveDesign or related to Picanol textile machinery.
