A .wip file is a proprietary WITec Project file used to store complex microscopy imaging and Raman spectroscopy data. It is primarily created and managed by WITec Project Commander software. Researchers use this format to save raw spectroscopic data alongside visual microscopy scans.
This format is closed and highly proprietary. It binds your scientific data to a specific, expensive vendor ecosystem. Files frequently exceed several gigabytes because they store massive 3D hyperspectral data cubes.
